Finding a paediatric dentist:
You can find a paediatric dentist in Ireland here. You can contact them to discuss an appointment for your child. Many of our members accept patients without referral, but those who are based in the public sector, in dental schools and hospitals, require a referral from your general dental practitioner. Resources for you: If you have a child with a special health care need, you might like to look at our video hosted by the UCD School of Medicine on the left. You might like to look at dental insurance for your family. This will help manage the costs of examination and treatments. You can find dental insurance at DeCare Dental, Ireland's only dedicated dental insurer. You will also find useful oral health information on their website. The Dental Health Foundation has lots of helpful resources for parents, children and teachers. Our Scottish friends at Childsmile have had great success implementing a programme to improve the oral health of Scottish children. You can learn a lot at the Childsmile parents' website. For your children: Our page For Children has some resources to help your child enjoy his or her first dental visit. Your child might like the Mouth Monsters, hosted by our friends at the American Academy of Paediatric Dentistry. Of course, everyone likes Sesame Street, and Elmo and friends have no less than 43 videos to help! You can find them here. Just watch out for the Cookie Monster! For the junior scientists out there, try the BBC website. They have a great video on wobbly teeth. And if you can manage to enjoy Topsy and Tim's adventures, you can find their dental visit here. |
